In Candid Interview, Mike Tyson Shares Insights on Fatherhood and Aging

In an extensive interview, former world heavyweight champion boxer Mike Tyson opened up about various aspects of his life, including his perspective on fatherhood, the influence he's had on Hip-Hop culture, and the lessons he's learned with age.

During the interview with Level Man, Tyson candidly discussed his role as a father to his two youngest children, Milan and Morocco. He admitted, "I suck at it," but mentioned that his family sees him as a more engaged parent now. He emphasized that he's become more present in his children's lives, a change from his past behavior. With children aged 14 and 12, Tyson recognizes the importance of being there for them.

Tyson also shared insights into his parenting style, acknowledging that he can be stricter with his sons than his daughters. He explained that this difference stems from his own experiences growing up in a tough neighborhood and feeling the need to protect his sons from a similar upbringing. He admitted, "There's a part of us that we don't want nobody to know, but it comes out in our children. We see things that we don't like about ourselves and we try to check him on that so he won't be like us."

Age and the lessons it brings were also discussed during the interview. Tyson was brutally honest about his past, mentioning that he engaged in a lot of toxic activities when he was younger, driven by a sense that he might not live long. Reflecting on his current age of 57, he admitted to feeling like he got old too quickly and became wise too late in life.

In the world of Hip-Hop culture, Tyson expressed humility and gratitude for being held in high regard. He stated, "I'm just humbled that they mentioned my name. I consider myself the hip-hop champion. I'm the first champion that the hip-hop generation ever had." Tyson sees himself as a symbol of that era and understands why he is referenced in Hip-Hop songs. He explained, "They rap about their life, what's involved in their life. What did they do? What did they see? They saw me in a club. They saw me on television fighting. They saw who I had hanging out with us. I'm one of those guys. If I wasn't a fighter, maybe I'd be a rapper or something."

In this revealing interview, Mike Tyson provided valuable insights into his evolving role as a father, his perspective on aging, and his profound impact on Hip-Hop culture.
