Amanda Abbington Withdraws from Saturday's Strictly Come Dancing Show Due to Medical Reasons

In an unexpected turn of events, Amanda Abbington from BBC's Strictly Come Dancing will not be participating in this Saturday's live show due to medical reasons. The news was disclosed during the Friday spin-off show, "It Takes Two," with host Janette Manrara conveying the message to fans.

Janette Manrara stated, "We have some breaking news; unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that, all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week. Amanda, we hope you get well soon, sending you all the best wishes!" As of now, neither Amanda nor her professional dance partner, Giovanni Pernice, have addressed this news on their social media platforms.

A statement from Strictly Come Dancing provided further insight, affirming, "Due to medical reasons, Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that, all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week."

This unforeseen announcement left Strictly fans expressing their support for Amanda and Giovanni. One person expressed, "Unfortunately, due to illness, Amanda & Gio will not be performing their Cha Cha tomorrow. #StrictlyComeDancing #Strictly." Another follower shared, "Amanda is sitting out #Strictly this week due to medical issues, should be back next week."

In the previous week, Amanda and Giovanni had earned 31 points for their Foxtrot performance to Fleetwood Mac's "Everywhere," securing a high position on the leaderboard. The pair was scheduled to perform the Cha Cha Cha to Jamiroquai's "Canned Heat" on this Saturday night.

Additionally, Adam Thomas faced a health setback this week, creating potential uncertainty for the weekend's show. The actor revealed his illness via social media, posting a photo from his bed. However, he seemed to have recovered, appearing on Strictly's spin-off show, "It Takes Two," alongside his partner, Luba Mushtuk. He shared a photo on his Instagram story with ice packs on his knees, suggesting that he had been training, with the reported ban on rehearsals now lifted.

Adam and Luba were set to perform a Couple's Choice dance to a Backstreet Boys medley. However, the extent of their preparedness for Saturday remains uncertain as they reportedly missed vital rehearsal time. Earlier in the week, Adam had been temporarily banned from rehearsals, possibly putting him at a disadvantage.

According to a source, "Strictly has been restricting training for both celebrities and professionals if they're unwell to prevent the spread of illness. Everyone on the show is eager to continue, but spreading sickness could have a significant impact. Strictly should be about glitz and glamour, not illness!" The Mirror reached out to the BBC for comments regarding these claims.
