Bad Bunny Schools SNL Cast on Pronouncing 'Puerto Rico' Ahead of Hosting Gig

In anticipation of Bad Bunny's upcoming appearance as the host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, the Puerto Rican superstar took a moment to teach cast member Heidi Gardner how to properly pronounce "Puerto Rico." The humorous exchange unfolds in a series of new SNL promos.

Gardner humorously attempts to pronounce the commonwealth's name as "Port-oh Reek-oh," prompting Bad Bunny to correct her with a simple "Puerto Rico." After a few playful attempts at pronouncing it correctly, the artist humorously suggests, "You know what? Don't go, please."

In another promo, Gardner praises the message in Bad Bunny's music but comically remarks that she "can't say it." When Bad Bunny asks if it's because the lyrics are in Spanish, Gardner surprises with a bleeped-out response, leading to a lighthearted moment. The promos also feature Bad Bunny's valiant mosquito-saving skills during their shoot.

Bad Bunny initially made a cameo on SNL in April 2020 during a pandemic-era episode. He made his musical guest debut in February 2021 and acted in sketches alongside host Regé-Jean Page. This weekend's episode marks Bad Bunny's first time hosting the show.

SNL's 49th season returned with Pete Davidson hosting and Ice Spice as the musical guest. Bad Bunny's episode is scheduled to air on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC and will be available for streaming on Peacock.
