Bananarama Feel The Love With Glorious And Announce London Palladium Show
Bananarama is celebrating over four decades at the forefront of the music industry with the highly-anticipated release of "Glorious – The Ultimate Collection," scheduled for March 8, 2024. Alongside this milestone release, they have unveiled the euphoric new track, "Feel The Love," which continues the triumphant momentum they established with their 2022 hit, "Masquerade." Additionally, they are excited to announce details about a special performance at the London Palladium on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
"Glorious – The Ultimate Collection" effectively traces the journey of founder members Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward through their personally curated career highlights. It takes listeners on a musical journey, starting from their early breakthrough with "Really Saying Something" with Fun Boy Three, and through their phenomenal '80s hits ("Cruel Summer," "Venus," "Love In The First Degree," "Robert De Niro’s Waiting," and more), the '90s ("Only your Love," "Preacher Man," "Movin’ On," "Last Thing on My Mind"), and into 2005, when they topped the singles chart with "Move In My Direction" and had a dance chart smash with "Look On The Floor (Hypnotic Tango)."
The Bananarama story didn't end there. They continued to tour and record, establishing their own IN SYNK label and enjoying a remarkable resurgence. Their 2019 album, "In Stereo," introduced them to a new generation, and they even delivered a show-stealing performance at Glastonbury Festival. Their subsequent release, "Masquerade," in the previous year, held special personal significance for the duo, as Sara's daughter, Alice, co-wrote several of the album's tracks. In addition to "Feel the Love," the collection includes another brand-new track, the pulsating "Supernova," and a new version of "Cruel Summer" (3am Mix).
Bananarama holds a prestigious place in the Guinness World Records as the all-female group with the most internationally charted hits. Their enduring presence in the pop music landscape is a testament to their exceptional talents, as they wrote or co-wrote nearly every song in this 40-track collection. Sara expresses, "We wanted this to be a unique collection, a celebration of all the twists and turns in our career." Keren adds, "At times we have maybe felt that we haven’t received the credit, respect, and recognition we deserve, certainly sometimes purely down to the fact we were born female."
The new single, "Feel The Love," is a perfect blend of classic and contemporary Bananarama, featuring sweeping vocal harmonies, pulsating electro beats, and a catchy, larger-than-life pop hook. Sara describes it as a song about "believing in yourself, focusing on what you want, and not listening to negativity," while Keren adds, "It was a process of making something soaring and uplifting. And we’ve gone to town with the harmonies, which we love."
"Glorious – The Ultimate Collection" will be available on collector's triple vinyl and double CD. Exclusive editions, including a deluxe vinyl and deluxe 3CD edition, come with a book that features an introduction by journalist Fiona Sturges, articles by Sara and Keren, and a detailed exploration of Bananarama’s relationship with fashion and music by trends expert Katie Baron. It also includes stunning photography of Bananarama's iconic outfits and memorabilia from their personal collections.
Digital formats and the deluxe 3CD edition feature bonus remixes and alternate versions of classics, deep cuts, and recent favorites, with reworks by renowned contemporary producers and DJs, including Boys Noize, Krystal Klear, The Reflex, Initial Talk, Luke Million, and more.
