In this week's update, the competition for the Official Number 1 album is heating up, as Ren's "Sick Boi" inches closer to overtaking Rick Astley's latest album, "Are We There Yet?"

Ren, whose full name is Ren Erin Gill and hails from the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, is now within 150 chart units of Rick, the current leader, with his second studio release, "Sick Boi."

In this thrilling battle of pop artists, both established and emerging, "Sick Boi" appears poised to mark Ren's first-ever entry on the Official Albums Chart, following his debut album, "Freckled Angels," released in 2016. In contrast, Rick Astley boasts two Number 1 albums – his debut, "Whenever You Need Somebody" from 1987, and his 2016 comeback, "50" – along with nine more albums that have reached the Top 40.

Ren expressed his amazement at the possibility of securing a chart-topping record, saying, "Having a shot at Number 1 is the most mind-blowing thing ever. I've been working towards this since I was 12."

Although Ren has yet to make his mark on the Official Albums Chart, he is no stranger to the charts. His emotional single, "Hi Ren," which addresses both physical and mental health issues, accompanied by a viral video, entered the Official Singles Sales Chart at Number 81 in March. Additionally, Ren's tracks "Suic*de" and "Murderer" found success on the Official Singles Sales Chart, landing at Number 94 and 95, respectively.

In other updates for the Top 5, Holly Humberstone's debut album, "Paint My Bedroom Black," is eyeing a Number 3 entry, while Troye Sivan could achieve a career-best with his third studio release, "Something to Give Each Other," predicted to debut at Number 4. The Streets' album "The Darker the Shadow, the Brighter the Light" might also secure Mike Skinner a Top 5 position this week. Their last such success was with "None of Us Are Getting Out of this Life Alive" in 2020, which reached Number 2 on the charts.
